Tegucigalpa is a mixture of colonial historical heritage, and also the modernism of a contemporary metropolitan city. Despite its Spanish origins, it has not the typical square layout of streets surrounding the central plaza, there are plenty of historical buildings and some interesting museums to see.
This tour begins with a visit to the downtown sector (the historical district), which includes the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Miguel Archangel, the City Hall, La Merced Church, the National Art Gallery, the National Congress building, the Central Bank, the Old Presidential Palace, the Villa Roy Museum, the Christ of El Picacho, the Basílica of Suyapa and the National University.
